Jörg Janzer (* 1939 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German psychiatrist, writer, action artist and painter. He lives and works in Berlin .

Jörg Janzer studied medicine in Freiburg, Heidelberg and Dakar from 1959 and obtained his doctorate in 1965. med. In 1976 he completed further training as a specialist in neurology and psychiatry. He was the initiator and first chairman of the "Saarland Society for Social Psychiatry" (see also German Society for Social Psychiatry ). After a brief activity at the Saarbrücken Psychiatric Clinic , he became the head physician at the Daun Specialist Clinic for addicts in the same year and head physician at the Münchwies Psychosomatic Clinic the following year . At the end of 1977 he gave up the medical profession.

Writing and art

From 1968 Janzer was represented with drawings and paintings in numerous solo and group exhibitions, for example in Basel, Freiburg, Saarbrücken, Paris and Berlin. He also wrote a number of "Romanoids", "Textoids", poems and essays.

In 1985 he published the novel Meat Meat - Rhizome from the interim estate of the poet and painter Alexander Mens , the latter an art figure created by him. In 1995 an article about speechlessness in the face of the war in Kosovo appeared in the almanac "Between the Times - Between the Worlds".

From 1985 he undertook a series of performances with text and music in Berlin, from 1992 also actions in public space.
