Jewish elementary school (Bruchsal)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jewish elementary school in Bruchsal , a town in the Karlsruhe district in northern Baden-Württemberg , was an elementary school that was run by the Bruchsal Jewish community . The Baden Jewish edict of 1809 allowed the Jewish communities to build their own schools, provided they covered the costs.

The school was probably located in the rabbinate building at Huttenstrasse 2. The Jewish elementary schools were closed in 1876 with the introduction of simultaneous schools in the Grand Duchy of Baden . The Jewish school in Bruchsal was continued as a religious school until the 1920s.

A separate school was set up again for the Jewish pupils in 1936, as the National Socialists forbade attending state schools .
