Jewish elementary school (Eichtersheim)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jewish elementary school in Eichtersheim , a district of the Angelbachtal community in the Rhein-Neckar district in northern Baden-Württemberg , was an elementary school that was founded in 1837. It was maintained by the Jewish community of Eichtersheim . The Baden Jewish edict of 1809 allowed the Jewish communities to build their own schools, provided they covered the costs.

Since 1838 the school has been located in the building at Hauptstrasse 50, near the synagogue . After the dissolution of the Jewish denominational school in 1876, the state school was housed in this house. Today the building is used as a residential building.

The Jewish elementary schools were dissolved with the introduction of simultaneous schools in the Grand Duchy of Baden in 1876. The Jewish school in Eichtersheim was continued as a religious school until after 1900.
