The Jewish elementary school in Gailingen am Hochrhein , a municipality in the district of Konstanz in Baden-Württemberg , was an elementary school that was established in 1815.

history

The school was run by the Jewish community of Gailingen am Hochrhein . The Baden Jewish edict of 1809 allowed the Jewish communities to build their own schools, provided they covered the costs.

The school was initially located in the Steiner house on Brühlstrasse. Between 1845 and 1847 a Jewish schoolhouse with three classrooms and apartments for the rabbi and the religious teacher was built opposite the synagogue . A mikvah was set up in the basement .

The Jewish elementary schools were dissolved with the introduction of simultaneous schools in the Grand Duchy of Baden in 1876. The Jewish school in Gailingen am Hochrhein continued as a religious school until the 1920s.

After 1876 the school building was used for the Jewish religious school and for teaching at the state school. The building in the street Ramsener 12 is obtained, it now serves as a community center .

Jewish Museum Gailingen

The Jewish Museum Gailingen was set up in the rooms of the community center from 2009 to 2014 , which presents Jewish history in Gailingen and Hegau .
