Jewish cemeteries in Holzminden
There are documented three Jewish cemeteries in the Lower Saxon town of Holzminden in the Holzminden district .
Jewish cemetery on Allersheimer Strasse
In the 1224 m² cemetery , a protected cultural monument , there are 90 tombstones for the Jewish deceased from Holzminden and the surrounding area. Burials took place in the cemetery from 1884 to 1937. Since there is no longer any Jewish life with a synagogue and a Jewish community in Holzminden , the cemetery is also maintained by the Lutheran Church.
Some of the tombstones are still in good condition. In 2017 the cemetery got a new wrought iron gate . If you look over the gate to the cemetery from Allersheimer Straße, you will notice the gravestone of the Lebenbaum family. Frau Lebenbaum died in 1937 three months before her 100th birthday and was buried next to her husband. The well-preserved black marble tombstone tells of it.

Beukampsborn Jewish cemetery
Before 1884, Jewish fellow citizens of Holzminden were buried in the Jewish cemetery on Beukampsborn. The Beukampsborn is a street in Holzminden that branches off from the better known Fürstenberger Straße. The cemetery is at the end of Beukampsborn on the corner with "Im Bruche" street. In this old cemetery there are no more visible graves. The cemetery is designed as a green area protected by a hedge. The hedge has a wrought iron gate through which the cemetery can be entered. The cemetery is recognizable as a Jewish cemetery through the gate with the Star of David .
