Ahlen Jewish Cemetery

The Ahlen Jewish Cemetery is located in the town of Ahlen in the Warendorf district in North Rhine-Westphalia . As a Jewish cemetery , it is a monument and has been registered in the list of monuments since May 20, 1997 under monument number 183 . It was occupied from 1938 to 1940 and then again from 1945 to the present day.

The Jewish cemetery is part of the Westfriedhof on Schlütingstrasse. 106 tombstones have been preserved there. The tombstones of the old Ahlen cemetery were brought here in the course of the reburial in 1938. They were not put up again until 1947.

Old graveyard

The old Jewish cemetery, which was occupied from 1788 to 1938, was on the east promenade opposite the Ahlen train station. There are no more tombstones there. In 1947 the burial place was redesigned into a green area . In 1980 a memorial for the victims of the Holocaust was erected.
