The Jewish cemetery in Bytom (German Beuthen ), a town in the Silesian Voivodeship in Poland , was laid out in the Radzionkauer suburb in 1866.

history

After the deceased had previously been buried in the old Jewish cemetery in Będzin , the first burial place for the Jews of Bytom was laid on the southern city wall around 1735. This cemetery was used until around 1870. It was abandoned in the 1960s, the few tombstones still there were taken to the new cemetery, where they were combined to form a lapidarium .

The new Jewish cemetery received a representative mourning hall. Today there are still more than 500 tombstones in the cemetery .

Since 1993 a plaque with Polish and English inscriptions has been commemorating the Nazi persecution of the Jews .
