Old Jewish Cemetery (Cieszyn)
The Old Jewish Cemetery in Cieszyn (German Teschen ), a town in the Silesian Voivodeship in Poland , was laid out in 1647 and used until 1907. The Jewish cemetery is a protected cultural monument .
The cemetery was initially privately owned by the Singer family and was bought by the Teschen Jewish community in 1785. During the 19th century the cemetery was expanded several times. After the New Jewish Cemetery was laid out, the old Jewish cemetery was closed. 1576 gravestones were counted in the cemetery years ago.
Tahara house
The Tahara house , equipped with an apartment for the cemetery keeper, was built in the second half of the 19th century. It was financed by the railway pioneer Emanuel A. Zahl from Teschen.
