Jewish cemetery (Joachimsthal)
The Joachimsthal Jewish Cemetery is located in the town of Joachimsthal in the Barnim district in the northeast of Brandenburg . As a Jewish cemetery , it is an architectural monument . It is surrounded on three sides by the communal cemetery, from which it is separated by a stone wall. About 30 tombstones have been preserved in the cemetery between the old and the new municipal cemetery on Zorndorfer Straße .
history
First the dead of the Jewish community were buried in the cemetery in Oderberg . In 1750, the then six Jewish families in Joachimsthal were able to create their own burial site on site - a patch of sand behind the official paddock. The cemetery was used until the dissolution of the Jewish community around 1920. A total of about 60 graves were found.
