The New Jewish Cemetery Eberswalde is located in Eberswalde , the district town of the Barnim district in the northeast of Brandenburg . As a Jewish cemetery , it is an architectural monument . 53 tombstones have been preserved in the cemetery on Freienwalder Strasse next to the forest cemetery .

history

The old Jewish cemetery on Oderberger Strasse was laid out in 1751. In 1924 the second Jewish cemetery was opened on Freienwalder Strasse next to the Waldfriedhof, and in 1929 the cemetery hall, which no longer exists, was inaugurated. After 1945, the cemetery was repeatedly desecrated with graffiti , and it was not until 1991 that it was thoroughly cleaned.
