The Jewish cemetery in Königsbach , a district of the municipality of Königsbach-Stein in the Enzkreis in Baden-Württemberg , was established in 1872. The Jewish cemetery on the edge of the Steidig residential area at the end of Rhönstrasse is a protected cultural monument . As a result of the further development, some of the houses on Vogesenstrasse are now directly adjacent to the cemetery. The cemetery can be reached via a beaten path at the end of the Rhönstrasse, which leads along the edge of the forest.

history

The dead of the Jewish community in Königsbach used to be buried in the Jewish cemetery in Obergrombach . In 1872 the community laid out its own 1389 m² cemetery in the Gewann Steidig ; The purchase of the property was made possible by the Königsbach merchant Löw Stern. Today there are 134 tombstones ( Mazewot ) in five rows in the cemetery . Amalie Stern, b. Schmalz, who died on January 9, 1940.

In the cemetery there is a memorial stone for the victims of the Nazi era .

In June 1988 16 tombstones were knocked over and partially damaged.

At the moment (December 2018) the entrance gate is locked so that no entry is possible.
