The Jewish cemetery in Castrop , a district of Castrop-Rauxel in the Recklinghausen district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ), was established in 1743. The Jewish cemetery between Altstadtring and Oberer Münsterstrasse is a protected monument .

history

The Jewish community in Castrop has buried its dead in its own cemetery since 1743. The last burial in the Jewish cemetery in Castrop took place in 1939. In the years 1938 to 1945 many tombstones ( mazewot ) were destroyed. That is why there are only 59 tombstones left today.
