The Jüdische Friedhof Otterstadt is a Jewish cemetery in Otterstadt , a municipality in the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . The cemetery is opposite the town's new Christian cemetery. The Jewish cemetery is a protected cultural monument .

history

The Jewish cemetery in Otterstadt was laid out after 1820 and occupied from 1828 to 1938. It served the Jewish communities in Otterstadt, Neuhofen , Rheingönheim and Schifferstadt as a burial place. The cemetery was expanded in 1840 and 1869. Now the Jews who died in Waldsee were also buried here. The cemetery has an area of ​​9.40 ares and today there are about 200 tombstones ( mazewot ). The cemetery is surrounded by a quarry stone wall, at the entrance there is a tiled entrance house.
