The cemetery in Roxheim (2018)

The Jewish cemetery in Bobenheim-Roxheim , a local community in the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis in Rhineland-Palatinate , was laid out around 1850 and expanded in 1903. The 8.20 ares large Jewish cemetery is located about 100 m north of the communal cemetery in Roxheimer Strasse in the Roxheim district . The old Jewish cemetery from 1825 in Roxheim is no longer preserved.

New Jewish cemetery

The Jewish cemetery was laid out around 1850 and expanded in 1903 from 3.10 ares by 5.10 ares. In 1920 and 1923 the enclosure and the fence were repaired. The last burial took place in 1935. During the Nazi era , the graves were desecrated and a large number of the stones that were presumably misused to build roads were removed. Today there are still 21 tombstones from the 19th and 20th centuries that are no longer in their original order. The cemetery is protected as a cultural monument.

Old Jewish Cemetery

The Jewish cemetery was laid out in 1825 and probably no longer occupied soon after 1850. It was also documented by the Jewish families living in Bobenheim , Horchheim and Wiesoppenheim . It was behind today's school building and was not entered in the land register. Later it was used as a schoolyard. In 1933 the Nazis stopped paying rent to the Jewish community. No gravestones have been preserved, and the exact location is not known.
