The Jewish cemetery of Wielowieś (Langendorf) is located about 600 meters from the village in the direction of Wojska.

history

At the end of the 17th century, Rabbi Jonathan Bloch (* 1664; † April 22, 1722 in Langendorf) founded a Jewish community here by setting up a regular prayer meeting and a cemetery. His son Hirsch Bloch was a member of the committee that negotiated with the manor in 1748 and 1749 for permission to build a fence around the cemetery and to lay the Sabbath cords .

The oldest tombstone still preserved today is that of Jonathan Bloch from 1722. Brann suspects that his wife Beracha (née Grätzer), who died on July 17, 1694, found her final resting place in the cemetery and reports that a tombstone was found with the date of death March 1, 1702 of a woman Jittel, daughter of the rabbi Isak Eisak. Burials were also made for the dead in the surrounding area, such as Tworóg and Tost .

The ancestors of Ferdinand Lassalle ( Kekulé numbers 10, 22; probably 88 - the brother of the above-mentioned Beracha) and the siblings Rebecca Gratz , Hyman Gratz the founder of Gratz College in Philadelphia and Salomon Gratz the first Jewish lieutenant colonel of the US Army and their father Michael Gratz († September 12, 1808) and his brother Bernhard Gratz (* 1738; † April 20, 1801), both of whom were involved in the resolution to the Stamp Act , buried. With their father Salomon Grätzer († April 18, 1744) they have a common ancestor with Lassalle (whose Kekulé number 44).

Today the cemetery has around 250 preserved tombstones. Only the posts have survived from the original fence. There are no more funerals in the cemetery today.

A few years ago the cemetery was tended by students on the initiative of a local history teacher.
