Jürg von Ins

Jürg von Ins (* 1953 in Zurich ) is a Swiss ethnologist , communications consultant and poet .

Life

Von Ins studied ethnology and religious studies at the universities of Zurich and Paris. He received his doctorate in 1979 in Zurich with a thesis on the cultural awakening around 1968 .

Until the mid-1980s he dealt with esoteric teachings in Europe and their sources. In his habilitation thesis (Der Rhythmus des Rituals) he developed a semiotic instrument for the precise documentation and analysis of complex ritual structures using the example of the therapeutic obsession ritual Ndëpp (Senegal) . Von Ins taught at the Universities of Zurich and Bern as well as at the Free University of Berlin.

In addition to teaching and research, von Ins was also always active in literature. It wasn't until 2008 that he presented his first volume of poetry ( I haven't lost a word ), which offers an overview of his previous lyrical work. Since 2004, von Ins has also brought poetic performances to the stage.

Jürg von Ins is married and has three children.
