Jürgen Bauer (Author)

Jürgen Bauer (born October 21, 1981 in Eisenstadt ) is an Austrian writer , journalist and dramaturge . He is the author of the novels The Window on the World , What We Fear and A Good Person . He has also written journalistic and scientific texts as well as non-fiction books.

Life

With his plays he took part twice in the New Writing program of the Vienna Burgtheater .

In 2013 his debut novel Das Fenster zur Welt was published by Septime Verlag, in 2015 since the second novel "Was wir afraid" and in 2017 his third novel "A good person", both also by Septime. In 2016 he also wrote the short story "Vienna - Sopron" for the anthology "übergrenzen".

His journalistic work on theater, dance and opera appeared in the newspapers and magazines Falter , gift , malmoe and nachtkritik.de .

While studying theater, film and media studies in Vienna, Amsterdam and Utrecht, he also specialized in Jewish theater and published articles and book chapters on it. In 2008 his book No Escape was published. Aspects of the Jewish in the theater by Barrie Kosky in Edition Steinbauer .

In 2017 Bauer was invited to the literary festival "Neue Literatur" in New York and "Zeitgeist" in Washington DC.

Bauer lives in Vienna.
