Jürgen Bellers

Jürgen Bellers (born October 7, 1951 in Neviges near Wuppertal (now Velbert )) is a German political scientist .

Live and act

Bellers studied international politics, newspaper studies, history, social studies (economics) and German in Munich . From 1979 he was a research assistant, university assistant and university lecturer at the University of Münster . Since 1994 he has been Professor of International Politics at the University of Siegen . He held visiting professorships in the USA and Turkey in 1990 and 1996.

Bellers is the founder and co-editor of the journals History and Cultures, Yearbook North Rhine-Westphalia and Yearbook for Foreign Trade Policy and a member of numerous political science associations.

In 2012 Jürgen Bellers founded the organization Tradition International , which, according to its own definition, promotes the values ​​of family, property and traditions. The organization also advocates that homosexual partnerships in secondary schools should not be presented as possible forms of partnership, because this is a human rights violation (Article 26, Point 3).

In 2016, Jürgen Bellers, on the advice of the Administrative Court of Arnsberg, withdrew a lawsuit against flagging the district with a rainbow flag on Christopher Street Day . Bellers argued in his lawsuit that the flag violated the principle of equal treatment of the Basic Law. However, the judges stated before the official hearing that they saw no violation of Beller's fundamental rights.

Teaching and research areas

His publications deal with political philosophy, German and international foreign trade policy, German foreign policy, development policy, European policy, media policy and political systems as well as the history of political science as a discipline.

Special research areas and projects are the evaluation of municipal administrations, export advice for medium-sized companies and, within the framework of the "Foreign Policy and History of Ideas" department, foreign policy ideas of various political thinkers, including Carl Schmitt .

As part of his "Introduction to Political Science", he also dealt intensively with the history of the discipline of political science.
