Jürgen Debus

Jürgen Debus (born March 25, 1939 in Tenkitten ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

After the family was expelled, he attended elementary school in Holtum (Geest) (Lower Saxony), the Verden Cathedral High School and, from 1957, the Schiller High School in Münster, where he graduated from high school in 1960. He then studied philosophy, sociology, economics and political science at the Universities of Münster and Bochum. From 1967 to 1971 he was a research assistant at the Central Institute for Spatial Planning at the University of Münster and in 1971 a research assistant at the University of Trier . In 1999 he became managing director of the Rhineland-Palatinate Society for Real Estate and Project Management (RIM) and in 2003 project manager at the investment and structure bank GmbH.

politics

Debus became a member of the SPD in 1972. In 1975 he became chairman of the SPD city association, in 1983 he became deputy chairman of the SPD sub-district of Trier, where he was elected chairman in 1987. In terms of local politics, he was a member from 1974 to 1984 and from 1977 to 1984 parliamentary group chairman in the council council in Konz and deputy chairman of the SPD district association Trier-Saarburg. In 1979 he became a member of the Trier-Saarburg district council and the planning community for the Trier region.

From February 32, 1987 to May 23, 1991 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . In the state parliament, he was a member of the budget and finance committee, the interior committee, the study commission »Financing of municipal institutions« and the interregional parliamentary council. From 1991 to 1994 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics and Transport and from 1994 to 1996 State Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Further Education .
