Jürgen Elvers

Jürgen Elvers (* 1937 in Celle ; † 2003 ibid) was a German painter.

Life

After graduating from the Hermann-Billung-Gymnasium in Celle, he began studying at the Werkkunstschule Hannover under Gerhard Wendland and Helmut Gressieker in 1960 . 1960–1963 he continued his studies at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Hamburg with professors Gresco, Kluth and Wienert.

In 1962 he received the 1st prize for painting from the Hamburg University of Fine Arts.

1963–1964 he received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service for Paris; this was followed by studies at the École des beaux-arts .

From 1964 until his retirement in 2000 he worked as an art teacher and English teacher; first 24 years at the Ernst-Schlee-Gymnasium in Hamburg, then at the Klosterschule Hamburg, the Gymnasium Lüchow and finally at the Gymnasium Ernestinum in Celle. He also devoted himself to painting. In 1980 he was accepted into the professional association of visual artists in Hamburg.
