Jürgen Geisen

Jürgen Geisen (born July 8, 1937 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

His senior league years (1956–1963)

For the 1956/57 season, the then 19-year-old striker moved up into the squad of the upper division Meidericher SV . In the league system, which was still regionally limited at that time, the Oberliga West represented the top division. In his first year he was able to collect game practice several times and was successful as a goalscorer seven times in twelve games. In the following season he was hardly used at all, but was able to establish itself again in 1958/59 and was regularly on the field; He was able to achieve six goals for Meiderich. This was followed immediately by another season in which he was almost never called up. At the end of it, he moved to Eintracht Braunschweig in the Oberliga Nord in the summer of 1960 with his teammate Heinz Bohnes . For the MSV he came to 38 league games with 15 goals.

In Braunschweig he spent a year in which he came to 13 league games with one goal, before he decided to return to the Ruhr area in 1961 and was hired at Schwarz-Weiß Essen . With this he succeeded in advancing from the II. Division to the Oberliga West a year later .

Further career as a player (after 1963)

When the Bundesliga was founded in 1963, the upper leagues were dissolved and the regional leagues were created as a substructure for the new first division. Geisen turned his back on Essen in the same year and moved to the Saarland club Sportfreunde 05 Saarbrücken . With these he entered the new regional league and was able to take a regular place at times. He completed 40 games with seven goals before the club withdrew the team from the second-highest division in 1965. In the season 1966/67 he appeared again with Germania Metternich in this league, but he and his teammates were clearly inferior and were relegated without a single win of the season.
