Heinz Bohnes (born June 6, 1935 in Duisburg ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Youth in Meiderich (until 1955)

The striker Bohnes was born in the Duisburg district of Meiderich and grew up there. He began playing football on the street before he joined the Wacker Meiderich club, which is located in the immediate vicinity of his home, at the age of twelve . At the age of 14, he and his teammates from the school team won the Duisburg city championship for this age group. In 1953 he moved with his twin brother Paul to Spvg. Meiderich 1906 , who would stay with Paul for many years. For Heinz, however, it was only a stopover, as he was poached in 1955 by local rivals Meidericher SV , who played in the II division .

Time at Meidericher SV (1955–1960)

At MSV, he immediately became a regular player and was part of a team that made an immediate return to the Oberliga West in 1956 after being relegated a year earlier. The Oberliga West was the top division at the time, as the national Bundesliga , which was only introduced in 1963, did not yet exist. Thus Bohnes experienced first division football for the first time in the 1956/57 season, with relegation without any effort. Personally, he was so convincing that in October 1956 he was invited by the national coach Sepp Herberger to a training course for the German national team. He then spent a week under the supervision of the DFB coaching staff and remained in their focus afterwards, but was ultimately never called up for an international match.

A characteristic feature of his style of play was the style of running characterized by rowing arm movements. In addition, he was a dangerous goalscorer in the upper league years, with 17 hits in the season 1957/58. In addition, he was absolutely unchallenged, which is why he did not miss a single game during the season. This even aroused the interest of the Turkish top club Fenerbahçe Istanbul , which offered him a contract in 1958. Bohnes turned down the offer and decided to stay in his home in Meiderich. In 1960 he turned his back on the MSV after 102 league games with 37 goals and 25 second division games with four goals to move to the Oberliga Nord at Eintracht Braunschweig .

Year in Braunschweig and return to Duisburg (1960–1966)

In Braunschweig he fought for a place in the first team, so that he came to 21 league games with three goals during the 1960/61 season. His wife Margret, who followed him to Braunschweig like the whole family, wanted to return to her home in Duisburg, which is why Bohnes left Braunschweig in 1961 for these private reasons and joined the Duisburg game club. So he went against his ex-club MSV in the Oberliga West, but he was part of a non-competitive team at the game club that ended the season 1961/62 as bottom of the table and relegated to the II. Division. He had personally changed position, so that he joined the defense from 1961 . In 1963, the team at least managed to qualify for the Regionalliga West , which was created that year as a substructure for the newly founded Bundesliga, and in 1964 Bohnes experienced a merger process through which the Duisburg game club became Eintracht Duisburg . For this he was in the regional league on the field until he ended his career in 1966. In 1968 he acquired the Trainer A license and then trained lower-class teams such as those of TV Voerde and SC Kleve 63 .
