Jürgen Heimlich (born January 26, 1971 in Vienna ) is an Austrian writer. He is the author of novels, short stories, plays, essays and non-fiction books.

Life

After training as a publishing clerk, Jürgen Heimlich worked for a long time in the public sector as a clerk. He also trained commercial apprentices. In addition, he was and is active as an editor and reviewer . Heimlich lives and works in Vienna. He is a member of the IG women authors authors .

Through his training as a publishing house, he developed a passion for literature. At the age of 18 he wrote his first own literary texts and attempts at novels. From 1992 he published in literary magazines and anthologies . Individual publications in the form of novels, short stories and non-fiction books followed. Jürgen Heimlich is considered a cemetery expert and has published two non-fiction books in this context. In 2008 the Central Cemetery Guide and in 2016 Vienna Cemeteries - a journey of discovery .

From 2007 to 2012 Jürgen Heimlich acted as a crime novel writer. During this period, a crime trilogy was created around the quirky Chief Inspector Kneiffer. From 2009 to 2012 he took part in the Vienna Crime Night. Since 2014 he has been particularly interested in historical topics. He wrote and published the novel The Secret of Willoughby in 2015 , which is based on a true story.

He has been a reviewer for the online literary magazine "sandammeer" since 2001. He also appeared in 2011 with the short documentary Zentralfriedhof, the film in collaboration with Peter Bosch. He has been committed to establishing simple language since 2016. In 2019 the premiere of his play for children, Dialog mit mein Schatten , took place at Theater 7ieben & 7iebzig in Innsbruck, which deals with the topic of bullying at school.
