Jürgen Heinrich (media economist)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jürgen Heinrich (* 1941 ) was a professor at the Institute for Journalism (IfJ) at the University of Dortmund for over 26 years . His research and teaching focus were general economics , business journalism and, above all, media economics .

In Dortmund Heinrich developed media economics as an integration subject together with Gerd G. Kopper. A subject that does not differentiate itself as a special field of existing subjects, but that combines the disciplines of economics, media and communication studies . “Media economy is more than the economy of the media” has therefore been one of the central axioms since the beginning of the discipline.

On May 24, 2006, Heinrich gave his farewell lecture on "Business in the media - media in business: anatomy of a complex three-way relationship" as part of the diploma handover to graduates of journalism studies and retired after 26 years at the IfJ.

One of his doctoral students was Sven Pagel .
