Christoph Moss

Christoph Moss (born May 17, 1967 in Dortmund , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German journalist and university professor . He holds a professorship for communication and marketing at the International School of Management in Dortmund.

After graduating from high school in 1986, Christoph Moss first did his military service before starting an apprenticeship as a banker in Dortmund . He then studied business administration at the University of Passau . While still a student, he began his traineeship at the Passauer Neue Presse in 1990 with the support of the Institute for Journalist Training at the University of Passau , for which he then worked as a business editor for two years.

In 1996 Christoph Moss returned to his hometown to do his doctorate at the Technical University of Dortmund . He submitted his doctoral thesis entitled “The Organization of the Newspaper Editing” the following year before he took over as head of the business editorship at Ruhr Nachrichten in 1997 . In 2000 the journalist moved to the Handelsblatt editorial team in Düsseldorf. In 2006 he also took over the management of the Georg von Holtzbrinck School for Business Journalists .

In 2007 Christoph Moss left the journalistic practice to devote himself to teaching. He received a professorship for corporate communications and media management at the International School of Management , where he also led the “Communications & Marketing” course. He had previously accepted teaching positions at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management , TU Dortmund, FH Gelsenkirchen , FH Hannover and at the Haus Busch journalism center in Hagen. In 2009 he also received a visiting professorship at the Technical University of Ostrava in the Czech Republic.

From 2011 to 2016 Christoph Moss held a professorship for journalism and media management at the BiTS in Iserlohn. As dean, he headed the “Media and Communication” department and was vice dean of the “Journalism and Business Communication” bachelor's program. In addition to his teaching activities, he has been the owner of "mediamoss", a communication agency, since it was founded in 2008. He also gives lectures at media and communication conferences.
