Jürgen Hoppe

Jürgen Reimar Hoppe (* in Parchim ) a German is botanists , biodiversity computer and co-founder of biodiversity database SysTax .

Life

Hoppe studied after visiting the school at St. Michael Schwabisch Hall 1973-1981 Biology at the University of Ulm and his doctorate in 1984 with the work "The morphogenesis of Cyathiendrüsen and its Annexes, its blattypologische interpretation and meaning" .

Hoppe has been an academic assistant at the Institute for Systematic Botany and Ecology at Ulm University since 1981 .

SysTax

In 1989 Hoppe co-founded SysTax , “a central, integrated biological database system that enables parallel use by multiple users and institutions”. SysTax was developed as a central database for botanical gardens, includes herb data, botanical gardens , zoological collections, plant viruses , fungi , procarya and cell cultures and is the largest supplier of GBIF collection data in Germany with around 474,000 data records . The main intention and task of SysTax is the administration of data from various national institutions and the worldwide free provision of these.
