Jürgen Landwehr (* around 1580 in Bremen ; † 1646 in Bremen) was a German painter.

biography

Landwehr was first mentioned around 1617. He was named as a conterfaiter and painter. In 1630 he made maps of the lower reaches of the Weser . The great city view of Bremen from 1602 was of him with I. L. W. signed. The historian Herbert Schwarzwälder considers it possible that this picture was only painted after 1617 with the inclusion of a copper engraving by Wilhelm Dilich (1571–1655). The son and painter Johann Landwehr (named around 1658–1670) gave the picture to the Bremen city council in 1662. It hung in the upper hall of the Bremen town hall until 1884 and then in the guild chamber of the town hall. Today the picture is exhibited in the Focke Museum .
