Jürgen R. Schmid
Jürgen R. Schmid (born March 27, 1956 ) is a German industrial designer .
Career
Schmid founded Design Tech in Ulm in 1983 , which exclusively designs industrial goods. Design Tech is a design company that only designs for the mechanical engineering industry, with the aim of making machines more efficient, ergonomic and successful.
Schmid, who studied at the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Design and went into business for two years, specialized in machines and components in the industrial sector right from the start. Today Design Tech in Ammerbuch works exclusively for manufacturers from international mechanical engineering . The company has won more than 180 international design awards (including iF design awards and red dot awards ).
By founding the Design Tech Academy , Schmid gives schoolchildren and students the opportunity to gain an insight into the professional field of industrial designer in workshops and holds seminars for managing directors, board members, developers and marketing experts.
Since 2004, the Ammerbucher Design Talk has been held annually in October with renowned guests such as Luigi Colani , Florian Langenscheidt , Manfred Spitzer , Joey Kelly , Helmut Schlotterer, founder and owner of MarcCain , Michael Mack, managing director of Europapark and Reiner Calmund .
Schmid is the author of Standard ist Tödlich , Schmids Blick I and Schmids Blick II , as well as specialist articles and co-author of the Corporate Identity and Sales Code 55 compendium . He was also a juror and jury member at various design competitions. Together with the Steinbeis Foundation , the Konradin Media Group , the State Network Mechatronics BW and LVI, Schmid is the initiator of the PROiSIGN network award .
Awards
Schmid has received more than 180 design awards so far (as of 2018) (especially iF Design Awards and red dot design awards ). Including “best of the best” awards from red dot, iF gold and Top 100.
