Jürgen Rekus

Jürgen Rekus (* 1950 in Braunschweig ) is a professor for education at the University of Karlsruhe .

Life

After graduating from the Schillerschule in Hanover in 1971, Rekus initially did his military service until 1973. From 1973 to 1976 he then took a teaching degree in general technology, physics and chemistry at the University of Hildesheim . He completed this on May 1st with the 1st state examination. From 1976 to 1981 he worked in school in Wolfsburg . He passed the 2nd state examination in February 1978. Since 1981 he has been studying educational sciences at the University of Hildesheim and was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD . From 1981 to 1986 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Pedagogy and head of “School Practical Studies” (school internships) and from 1986 to 1992 university assistant at the Institute for Applied Educational Science and General Didactics at the University of Hildesheim.

In 1992 he completed his habilitation in educational science. From 1992 to 1993 he held a professorship for school education at the Heidelberg University of Education. In 1994 he moved to the Karlsruhe University of Education as a professor of general education. At the same time, from 1999 to 2002, Rekus headed the General Pedagogy Department of the Institute for Educational Research at the Karlsruhe University of Education (where he was Deputy Director from 1994 to 1998). Since 2002 he has held a professorship for general education at the University of Karlsruhe and is head of department at the Institute for Vocational Education and General Education.

Rekus is a member of the advisory board of the Society for Education and Knowledge eV He is also a licensed radio amateur and a patron of the club station of the University of Karlsruhe. He advocates the integration of practical amateur radio components into theoretical physics lessons.
