Jürgen Töpfer

Jürgen Töpfer (born December 19, 1946 in Hamburg ; † February 10, 2003 ) was a German lawyer , real estate manager and Hamburg politician (CDU) .

His main job was to be a managing director in the housing industry.

From 1974 to 1978 and from 1986 until his death in 2003 he was a member of the Altona district assembly ; most recently as chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. He was considered an expert in urban planning and campaigned intensively for the decentralization of the administration.

In the general election in Hamburg in 1978 , Töpfer was placed on the CDU state list place 41 by his party and moved into the Hamburg parliament as a member of the parliament . He held this mandate in the 9th , 10th and 11th electoral terms until 1986.

Töpfer died of kidney dysfunction at the age of 56; he had previously suffered three strokes.

In the new development area Othmarscher Höfe in Hamburg-Othmarschen , Johann-Mohr-Strasse was renamed Jürgen-Töpfer-Strasse in 2011 .
