Jürgen Thiemens

Jürgen Thiemens (born December 3, 1895 in Norden , † November 6, 1972 in Leer ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Thiemens attended elementary school and then completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter for four years . He was then used as a frontline soldier in World War I for the next four years . After his return in 1919 he became a board member of the SPD in the local and district association. Professionally, he trained with the master craftsman examination . From 1925 to 1933 he was district head of social affairs in the city of Leer, but was dismissed in 1933.

After the Second World War he became a member of the appointed city ​​council in 1945 and was then continuously active in local politics. He later became a senator and deputy mayor of the city of Leer. Thiemens was elected to the Lower Saxony state parliament in the third electoral term in 1955 , to which he belonged until the end of the fifth electoral term in 1967.

On July 1, 1965, Thiemens was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class.
