Jürgen Villmow

Jürgen Villmow (born November 19, 1955 in Dahme / Mark ) is a German artist and architect . Since 1988 he has lived and worked in Berlin and Rosenthal .

Life

Villmow studied from 1977 to 1982 at the Weimar University of Architecture and Construction and graduated with a degree in engineering. He then studied externally from 1982 to 1985 at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig in Heinz Wagner's class . a. supervised by Hartwig Ebersbach , Ulrich Hachulla and Horst Arloth u. a., his thesis included large-format paintings and drawings. In 1986 he received the Horst Michel Prize for Design in Weimar. In 1986 he was given a teaching position at the University of Architecture and Construction in the artistic field under the direction of Hubert Schiefelbein .

After moving to Berlin in 1988 he founded the studio for art and architecture. Accompanying his own work, he was always active as a teacher, so u. a. as a freelance lecturer until 1990 at the University of Architecture and Building Weimar, 1996 at the Cottbus University of Applied Sciences and from 2006 at the Chamber of Crafts in Chemnitz in the course "Designer in the craft". Study visits took him to the Soviet Union and the USA, Bulgaria, Italy, Greece and southern France.

His works, watercolors , paintings and drawings are in private and public collections such as the collection of the Deutsche Bundesbank in Berlin and Weimar, the collection of the Technical University of Dresden , the Bauhaus University Weimar , the Romantikerhaus Jena, the Jena City Museum and the Fondazione Sinaide Ghi in Rome. He took part in several artist symposiums, such as B. 2006 the 15th artist-plein-air copperplate engraving of the Oder-Spree district, 2009 the summer symposium of the Schöneiche cultural foundry, 2010 the 19th international landscape plein-air “Land im Strom” in Schwedt / Oder, and he led the 1st summer plein-air in the community center Berlin-Grünau. In 1987 he also designed a medal for the medalist and coin die cutter Friedrich Wilhelm Kullrich . He was able to carry out extensive art-in-building projects for the Köpenick housing association and the housing association in Prenzlauer Berg in Berlin.
