Jüri Alperten (born June 16, 1957 in Tallinn , Soviet Union ; † August 26, 2020 ) was an Estonian conductor .

Life and music

Jüri Alperten was born into a well-known Estonian family of musicians. He completed his piano studies at the Tallinn State Conservatory in 1979 and graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory in 1985 with a degree in conducting . Since 1985, Jüri Alperten was employed as a conductor at the Estonia National Opera in Tallinn and was its chief conductor from 2002 to 2004. Since 1994 Alperten was chief conductor of the symphony orchestra of the Estonian Academy of Music and since 1998 chief conductor of the Pärnu city ​​orchestra . He has also conducted numerous orchestras and opera performances at home and abroad.
