Jūratė Matekonienė
Jūratė Matekonienė (* 14. August 1945 in Žuvintai , Alytus District Municipality , Lithuanian SSR ) is a Lithuanian economist and politician.
Life
Matekonienė has lived in Kaunas since 1950 . After graduating from secondary school in Kaunas in 1962, she completed her diploma studies in 1967 at the Kaunas Polytechnic Institute and became an industrial engineer. From 1972 to 1975 she studied at the Institute of Economics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and received her doctorate in 1975. From 1970 to 1975 she taught business organization at the Kaunas Polytechnic Institute, from 1975 to 1996 and since 2002 she has taught at the Kaunas Faculty of Vilnius University .
From 1996 to 2000 she was a member of the Seimas (elected in the constituency of Jonava ) and from 2009 to 2011 a member of the Kaunas City Council , general director of the daily newspaper Lietuvos žinios . From 2000 she was a member of Lietuvos centro sąjunga and since 2006 of Lietuvos Respublikos liberalų sąjūdis .
