J. Diederich Neuhaus

Johann Diederich Neuhaus (born January 29, 1925 - † July 9, 2010 ) was a German entrepreneur. He was the managing director and co-owner of the lifting tool manufacturer JD Neuhaus in Witten .

Life

After engineering training and initial practical experience in other companies, Neuhaus joined the family business in 1952 and became operations manager after a few years. At his instigation, the company switched from the usual manual drive to air motors when developing its hoists . As a result of this innovation, the company experienced a significant economic boom.

In 1970 he took over the management. Under his leadership, the company developed into the world's leading manufacturer in the field of air-powered lifting tools. In 1995 he withdrew from the operative business and handed over the management to his nephew Wilfried Neuhaus-Galladé. From 1996 to 2001 he was chairman of the advisory board of JD Neuhaus and then took over the honorary chairmanship.

In addition to his entrepreneurial activity, he was particularly interested in corporate culture . He set up an in-house hoist museum in which the development from the Stone Age lever to the modern compressed air hoist is presented.

From 1972 Neuhaus was a member of the plenary assembly and the industry committee of the Bochum Chamber of Commerce and Industry for 25 years .
