JR Ewing was a post-hardcore band from Oslo , Norway .
Band history
JR Ewing was founded in March 1998 in Oslo. Coming from the punk and hardcore punk scene, the band started with typical angry two-minute punk songs. For their last album Maelstrom , which was released in December 2005, curiosity drove them to create a less obvious sound and to test their limits. This sometimes even led to acoustic guitars and an overall more subtle sound.
In the summer of 2006, the members decided to break up the band in autumn 2006. The guitarist Erlend Mokkelbost has been playing with his brother Are in the avant metal band Killl since 2003 . He also plays for Montée.
Band name
The band name comes from "John Ross 'JR' Ewing Jr.", one of the main characters of the American television series Dallas .
