The Journal of Natural Medicines , abbreviated J. Nat. Med. Or JNM , is a scientific journal published by Springer-Verlag on behalf of the Japanese Society for Pharmacognosy . The magazine was founded in 1947 under the name Shōyaku ( 生薬 , such as: "Natural Remedies"), founded in 1949 in Yakuyōshokubutsu to Shōyaku ( 薬用植物と生薬 , such as "medicinal plants and natural remedies") and 1952 in Shoyakugaku Zasshi ( 生薬学雑誌 , such as: "Magazin für Naturheilkunde") renamed. In 1994 the name was changed to Natural Medicines , in 2006 the name was changed to Journal of Natural Medicine . Since then, the magazine has been published in an English and a Japanese edition; the English currently has four editions a year. Works are published that deal with research on natural substances and medicinal plants .

The impact factor in 2014 was 1.593. According to the statistics of the ISI Web of Knowledge , the journal with this impact factor ranks 175th out of 254 journals in the pharmacology and pharmacy category and 40th out of 59 journals in the medicinal chemistry category.
