Jaak Lipso

Jaak Lipso (born April 18, 1940 in Tallinn , Estonia ) is a former Soviet basketball player and coach of Estonian origin. He was an Olympic medalist in 1964 and 1968.

Athletic performance

Jaak Lipso began his sporting career in 1956. From 1961 to 1970 he was a member of the national basketball team of the USSR . He won the silver medal in the Soviet basketball team at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo . At the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City , he and his team won the bronze medal.

Lipso was world champion in 1967 and European champion in 1963, 1965 and 1967. With his team PBK ZSKA Moscow he was in 1963 and 1969 European Cup winners and six-time Soviet champions (1962-1966 and 1969). After his playing career, Lipso became a basketball coach.
