John "Jack" Boothway (born February 4, 1919 in Manchester , † April 7, 1979 in Runcorn ) was an English football player and coach. In his active career, the striker first played in various amateur leagues at Rusholme and Sedgeley Park before he was signed by Mossley in 1938. He also played for Manchester City , Crewe Alexandra and AFC Wrexham . His first coaching job was at Mossley before he took up the post at Northwich Victoria in 1955, where he worked until 1957. After a break of several years, he took over the post with the Runcorn Linnets until 1971.
