John Gillespie "Jackie" Henderson (born January 17, 1932 in Bishopbriggs , † January 26, 2005 in Poole ) was a Scottish football player.
career
Henderson came to Portsmouth in 1949 to do military service. There he joined Portsmouth FC , for which he ran up until 1958. He was noticed by those responsible for the Scottish national team , who first appointed him to the team in 1953. A year later he was on the squad for the 1954 World Cup . In early 1958, he first moved to the Wolverhampton Wanderers , where he could not establish himself as a regular and therefore did not receive a medal after winning the championship at the end of the season. In the autumn he moved to Arsenal , where he was a regular player. However, after he was no longer regularly accrued in the season 1961/62, he went to local rivals Fulham FC . Here he ended his professional career in 1964 and then let his career in amateur football end.
