Jacob Adam Abel
Jacob Adam Abel (also Jakob Abel , born June 3, 1754 in Wetzlar ; † October 2, 1824 ibid) was a German lawyer at the Imperial Court of Justice and legal scholar .
Abel grew up in the free imperial city of Wetzlar, studied law and received his doctorate in both rights in 1871. From 1784 he practiced as a lawyer at the Imperial Court of Justice, and in 1790 he became procurator there. After the Reich Chamber Court was dissolved, he initially worked as a lawyer in Friedberg for some time . In 1808 he was appointed full professor for civil litigation at the newly founded law school in Wetzlar .
After the legal school was closed, Abel became a judicial officer in the Grand Ducal Hesse region in 1818, overseeing the patrimonial courts and patrimonial courts in the Wetterau .

The son Jacob Adam Abels was born in 1788, Karl von Abel , who later became Minister of Finance and Interior in Bavaria .
Honors
In the old town of Wetzlar there is a street called Abelsgasse, named after Jacob Abel.
