Jacob Fry

Jacob Fry Jr. (born June 10, 1802 in Trappe , Pennsylvania , †  November 28, 1866 there ) was an American politician . Between 1835 and 1839 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jacob Fry attended the public schools in his home country and then taught himself as a teacher in his hometown of Trappe. Later he was successful in trading. Between 1830 and 1833 he was a clerk in the courts of Montgomery County . He joined the movement around the future President Andrew Jackson and became a member of the Democratic Party founded by this in 1828 .

In the congressional election of 1834 , Fry was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fifth constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Joel Keith Mann on March 4, 1835 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1839 . In 1838 he renounced another candidacy.

After serving in the US House of Representatives, Fry returned to trading. From 1853 to 1854 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania . Between 1857 and 1860 he was an auditor for the state government of Pennsylvania ( Auditor General ). He died on November 28, 1866 in his birthplace, Trappe.
