Jacob Hostetter

Jacob Hostetter (born May 9, 1754 in York , Province of Pennsylvania , †  June 29, 1831 in Columbiana , Ohio ) was an American politician . Between 1818 and 1821 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jacob Hostetter attended the public schools in his home country and then worked as a watchmaker. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Republican Party . Between 1797 and 1802 he was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives .

After the resignation of Congressman Jacob Spangler , Hostetter was elected to the House of Representatives in Washington, DC when he was due by election in the fourth district of Pennsylvania , where he took up his new mandate on November 16, 1818. After being re-elected, he could remain in Congress until March 3, 1821 .

After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Jacob Hostetter moved to Columbiana, where he spent his old age. He died there on June 29, 1831.
