The metro station is located in the Quartier de la Porte-Saint-Martin in the 10th arrondissement of Paris . It lies lengthways under the Boulevard de Magenta at the level of Place Jacques-Bonsergent.

Station names

At the opening, the station was named "Lancry" after the Rue de Lancry, which crosses the Boulevard de Magenta there. Lancry was the last name of the landowner on whose land the road opened in 1777.

Since February 10, 1946, the subway station has been called "Jacques Bonsergent" after the newly created square Place Jacques-Bonsergent.
