Jacques Delepaut (born September 11, 1926 in Tourcoing , † October 13, 1992 ) was a French football player and coach .

Career

Delepaut started playing soccer in his hometown with the US Tourcoing . In 1947 the team went on in the merged association CO Roubaix-Tourcoing ; the 1.80 meter tall defender was part of the squad of the new club, which was briefly known as CORT. This competed in the top French league, with which the young footballer made the leap into professional football . Delepaut became a regular player and at a time when substitutions and substitutions were not possible, he made 28 top division appearances within a year.

In the following seasons, the defender remained an integral part of the team and achieved some placements in the middle of the table with the team before relegation could only just be averted in 1953. This succeeded again a year later, but in 1955 the fall into the second division could no longer be prevented. At the same time Delepaut left the CORT, for which he had come to 249 first division games with two goals; so after eight years in which he consistently occupied a regular place, he became the club's record player in the first division; since the CORT did not return to the highest league and was dissolved in 1970, this record is permanent.

After relegation in 1955, the player could remain in the first class, as he signed at Lille OSC . He could not avert the team's relegation a year later, but this time he went to the second division. He ran in all 38 games and achieved direct resurgence with Lille in 1957. Then he fell completely out of the team and was called up only three times in the course of the seasons 1957/58 and 1958/59; thus he ended his career after 276 first division games. In the course of the 1958/59 season he took over the responsibility as a coach and sat on the bench from November 1958 until the end of the season, but could not avert the threatened relegation. After that, the player, who died in 1992, completely withdrew from professional football.
