KK Nikken Sekkei ( Japanese 株式会社 日 建 設計 , Kabushiki kaisha Nikken Sekkei , English Nikken Sekkei Ltd. ) is a Japanese architecture firm . Founded in 1900, the office is the oldest in Japan and is also the largest planning office in the country , with over 2,800 employees and assets of 460 million yen . The office is headquartered in Chiyoda , which is part of Tokyo Prefecture . The company also has branches in Osaka , Nagoya , Kyushu and Tohoku . There are also two foreign branches in Los Angeles and Singapore .
The architecture office has designed and implemented over 20,000 construction projects in over 40 countries, mostly in Asia. In addition to planning services for architecture, it also offers engineering and other services. The office is best known for its numerous high-rise and tower structures, such as the currently tallest television tower in the world, the Tokyo Skytree .
Surname
The company name Nikken Sekkei is an acronym made up of the first letters of the Japanese words for "Japan" ( Ni -hon) and "Architecture" ( ken -chiku), to which the word "planning" has been added.

Prices
In the last 20 years alone, the Nikken Sekkei office has been honored with well over 150, in some cases international, prizes for its work. Among them, it also received the IABSE Outstanding Structure Award 2010 for the construction of the Mode Gakuen Spiral Towers and the World Architecture Festival Award 2010.
