Jacques Kehrer

Jacques Kehrer (born February 24, 1854 in Wollishofen ; † November 9, 1908 in Zurich ; resident in Bözen ), actually Jakob Kehrer , was a Swiss architect of historicism .

life and work

Kehrer, born near Zurich, attended schools in Aarau . After attending secondary school, he briefly attended the Academy of Neuchâtel and then completed an apprenticeship in the construction business of Näf-Hatt from 1873 to 1874 . He then completed his studies at the building trade school in Stuttgart . He gained professional experience in the office of Johann Jakob Breitinger , among others , before setting up his own office in 1880 with his college friend Karl Knell . After his death, Kehrer continued to run the office alone. Kehrer worked as an architect in Switzerland, primarily for reformed sacred buildings and building schools. Charles Conrad (1876–1961) did not complete the neo-Gothic church in Wipkingen until after Kehrer's death.

Kehrer died of a heart condition.
