The Reformed Church of Richterswil is a neo-Gothic village church in the canton of Zurich .

history

A first church in Richterswil , consecrated to St. Martin , was first mentioned in 1265. The previous building of today's church can be seen on numerous vedute . In 1902–1905, the current building was built by Jacques Kehrer on a hill above the village .

Exterior

The church has a floor plan of a Greek cross typical of the Reformed church building of historicism at this time , as was provided for in the Wiesbaden program . In the main facade and in the side arms of the church there are large tracery windows . Buttresses and finials enhance the building's Gothic look. The 75 meter high tower with a pointed spire and eyelashes for the dials corresponds to a scheme popular on Lake Zurich. The polygonal choir is flanked by two stairwells for the gallery entrances .

inner space

A circumferential gallery fills all four cross arms. The richly carved pulpit in neo-Gothic style and the pews of the church are made of dark wood. The walls and balustrades are decorated with painted plant tendrils. In addition to ornamental glass paintings , the large rose windows also contain images of Christ (southeast) and the reformers Huldrych Zwingli (northeast) and Martin Luther (southwest).

organ

The main organ built by Orgelbau Kuhn AG in 1971 is located in the south-eastern cross arm, which has been extended to form the choir . The instrument has 42 registers on three manuals and a pedal . His disposition is:
