Jacques Launay

Jacques Launay (* 1954 ) is a French naval officer ( admiral ).

Life

Launay attended the École Navale from 1974 to 1977 . He served u. a. on the nuclear submarine Le Foudroyant and on the helicopter carrier Jeanne d'Arc . From 1990 to 1992 he graduated from the Federal Armed Forces Leadership Academy (FüAkBw) in Hamburg and was awarded the General Carl von Clausewitz Certificate of Honor from the Clausewitz Society in 1992 for his course work.

After an assignment in Paris he was a naval attaché at the embassy of the French Republic in Bonn from 1995 to 1998 . Launay became a member of the French Advanced Military Studies Center (CHEM) and the National Institute for Higher Defense Studies (IHEDN) as well as Deputy Director for European and Strategic Relations at the Secretariat Général de la Défense Nationale (SGDN). In 2004 he became a defense attaché in London. After further assignments, he was Inspector Général de la Marine from 2009 to 2012. He then became the commander of EUCAP Nestor .

He is married and has four children.
