Jacquet Metal Service specializes in steel trading in a number of niche markets and operates under four different names:

  • Jacquet : stainless steels and nickel alloys , as well as the world's largest dealer for thick plates ("Quarto")
  • Stappert : stainless long products
  • Abrasive service : highly wear-resistant steels and special materials
  • IMS group : carbon steels, alloy steels, stainless structural steels and tool steels

Jacquet Metal Service is represented in 22 countries in Europe, Turkey, China and the USA. With 81 distribution centers and more than 2,270 employees and a range of 40,000 product references in stock, the products of the Jacquet Metal Service group are present in practically all industrial sectors: food industry, energy, chemical and petrochemical, paper industry, mining and quarries, public works contracts, steel industry, Shipbuilding, agricultural machinery, general engineering, recycling, seawater desalination for agriculture, wastewater treatment, etc.

Eric Jacquet, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors, has headed the group since 1994 and directly and indirectly holds 40.3% of the capital.

The company was founded in 1962 by Michel Jacquet, initially under the name Etablissements Jacquet . In 1977 a second production facility was opened in Lizy-sur-Ourcq . The company has been listed on the Euronext Paris Stock Exchange since October 23, 1997 .

From autumn 2008, Jacquet Metals bought a stake of almost 33 percent in the much larger listed competitor IMS International Metal Service on the stock exchange . On February 3, 2010, Jacquet Metals announced a hostile takeover offer for IMS, which IMS initially rejected; However, on March 10, both companies mutually agree to merge the two companies. After the merger, the group renamed Jacquet Metal Service in June 2011.

The main shareholder with around 40 percent and almost 48 percent of the voting rights and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the group is Éric Jacquet, the founder's son (as of December 2013).
